Motta volta atrás e mantém escolta de segurança para deputada do PSOL

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), reversed his vote and decided to maintain the escort of agents who provide personal security for Representative Talíria Petrone (PSOL-RJ).

The decision was made this Saturday (13) after the parliamentarian announced on social media that the protection had been withdrawn by the House. Since 2020, the deputy has been accompanied by agents of the Federal Legislative Police (PLF) due to receiving constant death threats.

“I was surprised by the withdrawal of my protection in recent days, amidst a turbulent week in the Chamber of Deputies [Glauber Braga case]. From the very first moment, two days ago, I tried to contact President Hugo Motta, without success, which caused great concern. A short while ago, I received a call from the president of the House informing me that he will accept the appeal regarding my escort, guaranteeing the return of conditions for the safe exercise of my mandate,” said the congresswoman.

According to the Chamber, the escort was withdrawn after a technical report issued by the PLF concluded that there are no longer any recurring threats against Talíria.

According to the press office of the House, the opinion was prepared after consultations carried out with the assistance of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rio de Janeiro (MP-RJ) and the Federal Police (PF).

The House also informed that the escort will be maintained provisionally until a final decision is made regarding the reconsideration request submitted by the congresswoman.
