São Paulo breaks heat record and could get even hotter this Sunday.
As warned by Climatempo, the heat returned with force and temperatures rose even further this weekend in the state of São Paulo. The city of São Paulo broke a new heat record for this year. The afternoon of Saturday, January 10th, was the hottest of 2026 so far, with a maximum temperature of 34.6°C. However, this value is provisional. The official maximum temperature for January 10th will only be known after 9 PM, when the National Institute of Meteorology conducts the final temperature verification for that day.
More heat and little rain this Sunday
The population of São Paulo will feel even hotter this Sunday. The forecast predicts temperatures will reach 36°C, setting a new record for 2026. No rain is expected this Sunday in the Greater São Paulo area, although several showers are expected in the central-west and south of the state of São Paulo. For the São Paulo capital region, showers are expected to return from the afternoon of Monday, January 12th. Next week will be hot with showers that could be moderate to heavy in various locations in the São Paulo metropolitan area, the interior, and the coast of São Paulo state. Despite the forecast of showers, the air will remain hot and humid.
