Planejamento financeiro marca a volta às aulas e aquece ações do setor de papelaria

Retailers are mobilizing for the second-largest sales season of the year; promotional campaigns seek to alleviate costs for Brazilian families.

With the start of a new school year approaching, Brazilian retailers are already preparing for one of the most intense sales periods. For the stationery and bookstore sector, the back-to-school season represents a veritable “second Black Friday,” with high demand for essential products such as notebooks, backpacks, pens, and textbooks.

In 2024, spending on school supplies totaled almost R$ 50 billion, according to a study by the Locomotiva Institute, in partnership with QuestionPro. For many families, this represents a significant financial burden. A survey by the MeuTudo platform revealed that 39% of respondents used their 13th-month salary to cover expenses related to enrollment, uniforms, and materials.

Despite good intentions, consumer behavior and strategic planning expert Sérgio Czajkowski Júnior warns: “Many parents plan, but end up diverting part of the 13th-month salary to parties, gifts, and end-of-year trips. This compromises the school budget.”

The expert’s recommendation is clear: planning should begin even before the start of the year. “First, pay off debts – especially credit card debt. Then, set aside a portion of your 13th-month salary for school expenses. This way, you avoid starting the new year with a noose around your neck,” he advises.

Czajkowski also emphasizes the educational value of the moment. “Planning together is an opportunity to teach children about financial literacy. Honest conversations about limits and priorities help to create more conscious citizens.”

Promotional campaign invests in prizes to attract consumers.

Paying close attention to consumer behavior, BRW Suprimentos launched a promotional campaign for the school year. With prizes ranging from game consoles to family trips, the campaign aims to benefit not only consumers, but also retailers and partner vendors.

For every R$50 spent on BRW products, the customer receives a number to participate in raffles. Prizes include a Nintendo Switch, iPhone 16, bicycle, PlayStation 5, 50-inch smart TV, JBL speakers, and a complete package to Beto Carrero World theme park.

According to the company, the goal is to reinforce the social role of brands in the face of the financial pressures faced by families. The campaign is valid until February 15, 2026, and all information is available on the website  www.voltaasaulasbrw.com.br .

In a scenario of persistent inflation and tight budgets, the key difference lies in the ability to combine utility and opportunity. Promotions like this one seek not only to increase sales, but also to contribute, even if symbolically, to easing the burden of expenses at the beginning of the year.
