In search of qualification for the final of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, Flamengo will take to the field against Pyramids (Egypt) starting at 2 pm (Brasilia time) this Saturday (13) at the Ahmad bin Ali stadium, in the city of Al Rayan (Qatar).

The semifinal clash comes after a debut in which Flamengo did not play well, but relied on the brilliance of Uruguayan attacking midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta to defeat Cruz Azul (Mexico) by a score of 2-1 last Wednesday (10).
Now, facing the Egyptians, coach Filipe Luís stated in a press conference that he doesn’t expect an easy game: “We expect a very difficult match. I know a lot about Egyptian football, as I played with Salah at Chelsea [England]. But I think the aspect that makes me pay the most attention is the players’ physique. They are very strong, they can run for a long time and never get tired. That’s why it’s very difficult to win matches [against them].”
Last Friday (12), Pyramids coach, Croatian Krunoslav Jurcic, also gave a press conference, in which he said that he greatly respects Flamengo: “Flamengo has great players and perhaps we don’t have players as experienced. I have respect for Flamengo.”

On Flamengo’s side, good news could be the appearance of striker Pedro during the match against the Egyptians. According to Filipe Luís, the player, who spent some time away from the pitch due to a muscle injury in his left thigh, should get some playing time in Saturday’s game: “Our plan for him [Pedro] depends on his daily progress. In today’s training we will decide whether or not he can get playing time tomorrow. My expectation is that he will get some playing time.”
Whoever advances between Flamengo and Pyramids will compete in the final of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup next Wednesday (17), starting at 2 pm (Brasília time) at the Ahmad bin Ali stadium.
