A 60-year-old man was arrested in the act for animal abuse after the Civil Police rescued a horse with an open wound on its right leg, on Wednesday morning (10), in Pinhais, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba (RMC).
According to police chief Lucas Maia, the animal had been under surveillance for several days by the Pinhais City Hall’s inspection agencies.
“The horse’s right leg is completely exposed, with a wound. This is absurd, something that shouldn’t happen to an innocent animal. Therefore, the animal will be rescued by the Pinhais City Hall and will receive the appropriate treatment.”
said Maia.
The elderly man who was arrested had previously been cited by the municipality for other offenses related to animal abuse. He told the police that the horse had fought with another animal and that he did not have the financial means to treat the injury.
“We can see that this is not what really happened here. There are other horses and several dogs on the property in a vulnerable situation.”

The man was taken to the police station for the appropriate procedures.
