Starting in 2026, the Copa do Brasil will distribute two spots for the Copa Libertadores. The news was announced by the CBF to the clubs during the Série A Technical Council this Thursday (11). The entity that regulates football in the country will still decide whether the second spot (destined for the runner-up) will be for the group stage of the Libertadores or for the qualifying stage (Pre-Libertadores).
The CBF is also analyzing what the procedure will be if the top two finishers in the Copa do Brasil also secure qualification for the Libertadores through the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Currently, the Copa do Brasil only qualifies the champion for the group stage of the Libertadores. The Brasileirão, on the other hand, grants four direct spots to the continental tournament and another two to the preliminary rounds of the Libertadores.
